the value of a semi-natural color solid 40 carat black opal
It has a big game in brilliant color with flashes of pink, green, blue and purple and in the light, some orange. What do you think the value of this would opal flashes are very bright and not dull. I think mine is from Andamooka in Australia, but I'm not so sure. (Only experts answet this, please)
There is absolutely no way anyone can give an approximate value, even stone, as a description and without examination. You give no picture either. There are many variables to be taken into account in evaluating gemstones and more with the opal that almost anything else, even if it has not undergone any treatment (a lot of material is black). I've been a professional gemologist for over 40 years and my advice to you is serious to take it to a trusted jeweler or find a gem testing laboratory in the Yellow Pages and get an expert to see it. Everyone advice you receive in Yahoo Answers is, at best, a wild guess.
