Naturalized in lieu of the certificate of citizenship?

A friend of mine came to the U.S. as LPR (holder of the permanent resident card), then to pass the time, filed for naturalization. She is now a citizen. Here's the thing but … that his mother is American (that is how got the green card to start with … through a family-based petition). However, now realizes that he should have filed a certificate of citizenship (N600) in place of naturalization (N400). nothing more than a clerical error or if you ask me. It was a green card with a U.S. natural born mother. Therefore derives from their citizenship at birth (as a naturalized citizen, not a natural-born citizen and therefore can not run for the office of President or VP). It has been a naturalized citizen from a year ago. What can you do to correct this error? How can undo the naturalization process (so to speak), and just get a cert. citizenship in their place? Or can the State Department of USCIS (o) only change the certificate of naturalization to citizenship?

She would have the citizenry for their single mother if her mother took positive steps to provide that citizenship. Assuming that the birth was the abroad of the mother would have had to go to the U.S. embassy and report the source and fill out the paperwork to establish the child's U.S. citizenship. The mother must have lived in the United States a minimum of 5 years including 2 years would have been after the age of 15 years to pass along U.S. citizenship. The fact that the boy had a green card is all the evidence you need to know that either the mother did not officially report the birth or the mother had no right to pass along U.S. citizenship.
