Buying diamond jewelry is unclear. It is not easy to tell the good from the bad stones – that is, without special training and a jeweler's loupe. Gemologists use a diamond grading system. By understanding this system and what the letters mean, you can choose the perfect diamond. Read on to learn about the "4 Cs" – color, cut, clarity and carat weight.
Color
Completely color diamonds are most valuable, and the rarest. The Most "sunshine" rocks contain small amounts of color. A letter of designation of the diamonds are classified according to the amount of color, if any, they contain. The highest rating for colorless is D, E and F near the back. These colorless stones are very rare. The scale continues after almost colorless (GJ), light yellow (KM), very light yellow (NR) and the yellow light (VX). Diamonds classified G to have virtually no color visible to the untrained eye. The color choice may be more important when placing the stone in a sterling silver, white gold or platinum setting in a yellow diamond, would more remarkable.
Cut
Court does not refer to the general shape of the stone (as seen in whole or pear-shaped gems). Rather, cutting concerns the reflective quality of the diamonds. A well-cut diamond catches and reflects light with a bright flash. Mal cut diamonds have less glare. The cut of a diamond is classified to help consumers choose a stone. These grades are:
– Ideal
– Premium
– Very good
– Well
– Regular and bad
His choice is determined by your budget and preferences.
Clarity
The diamonds are natural materials, and it is common that contain small imperfections. The inclusions are imperfections in the interior of the gemstone, while the defects affect the exterior. Jewelers use a 10x loupe (a magnifying device) to inspect grade stones. The classification is as follows:
– F: Flawless. Almost incredibly rare.
– IF: Internally Flawless. There may be some defects surface, but within the diamond is perfect. This is very rare.
– VVS1 – VVS2: This is actually two degrees of very very slightly included. These stones have small inclusions not easily detected by trained professionals.
– VS1 – VS2: two degrees, very slightly included. Small imperfections are difficult to detect.
– SI1 – SI2: slightly included two degrees, with minor imperfections a little easier to do with the increase.
While the value an increase of diamond clarity is important to know that the flaws from grades F through SI are not visible to the naked eye. There are three degrees of inclusion (I1 – I3), which contain flaws that may be visible.
Weight
Diamonds are measured in carats, one carat equals 0.2 grams. The diamond more large cut in the story is Cullinan1, Star of Africa, weighing a whopping 520 carats. Today is the scepter of King Edward VII – Regal really! Your budget (or rod) may be smaller, so do not let the size be the only factor to consider. The setting you choose must adapt Stone comfortably, neither too small nor too large. Moreover, precious stones appear larger when used by someone with small slender fingers.
The four Cs – color, cut, clarity and carat weight – are important considerations when buying diamond jewelry. With this information, you can start to make sense of confusing letter grades. Need more help? Please do not hesitate to contact me.
