Shimla has the only natural ice rink in India. Shimla ice skating rink, the oldest ice skating rink open Asia offers excellent opportunities for ice skating enthusiasts. The Skating Club of Shimla has successfully completed its sixty years. On the other hand, is located in the heart of Shimla and just takes 10 minutes to downtown. An ice-skating Carnival is arranged every year by the Ice Skating Club of Shimla.
The Shimla ice-skating rink has the largest outdoor area naturally frozen ice in this part of the world. Ice-skating carnival of Shimla is a gala time for the Shimla people. This carnival starts in the month of December and continues through February. Two sessions are held every day with one of the morning and afternoon.
The Shimla ice-rink ice skating is the only Asian natural ice skating. There is a ball hung in the municipal building that serves as a signal that will be skating out on that day or not. The clear sky and cold climate accompanied by hard, dry ice makes the Shimla ice-skating carnival a success every year.
A large number of enthusiastic skaters take active part in the Shimla ice-skating carnival. A large number of foreigners participating in the carnival. Infact take their shoes Skating with themselves.
