Saltwater Nano Cube Set Up Question?
I am creating a cube of 24 g of Nano. I'm in a hurry huge population with fish or anything, but I would implement it. My question is, can I put the sand and the water now and add the live rock later, say as a few pounds at a time? I have a bag of each Pink Fijian and Indo-Pacific, (both are Arga-Alive) and about 8 pounds of Argamax Select. The tank to start the cycle or should I rock for? I have a 12g cube Nano created as a unique repository of coral, but to set that up a year ago, I put the sand and rock in the same time, so I am curious if well hold off on the rock for a week or two. Thanks!
There is a reason it is recommended that you add both at once. This is due both to the sand and rock have died making the cycle to begin. There is no need to add these two at once, but it's a good thing to do. As you stated you are not in any no hurry for this to affect you. As you add the rock in moderation this should not be a problem, "in other words, do not allow the sand to go and then add 25 kilos of rock after it is done. "This will make it look as if the tank has been cycling forever. I often recommend to add a clam dive when you add the sand only a tank cycle. This will encourage the tank to move, because the cause that they die of ammonia and then that in turn to nitrites and nitrates. That is your cycle.
