Real Engagement
Is it really necessary for my boyfriend to buy me an expensive / real engagement ring?
My boyfriend and I have talked to compromise. I really feel uncomfortable with it, spending much of my ring. I'd rather save the money and put it to our purchase of a house. I want a beautiful ring, but I do not need to cost much and I'm not really worried that a diamond is "real." My friends and family members say that if you want to spend that much money on me to let me. Otherwise I'm insulting his grand gesture.
You should tell your boyfriend you want to put money for other things, like a house of the future. Maybe go with him to choose a ring. Also maybe a smaller diamonds that would reduce the cost. Just express how he feels, if he knows he would rather spend the money elsewhere where you can reach agreement.
