Wondering what kind of diamond clarity to arrive? Or what is the best? Fortunately, out of the 4 C's, this is the easiest way to understand, and according to most experts, usually has less impact on the appearance of a gemstone. To help you in your quest for perfect gem, here's look further at the table of diamond clarity.
Clarity refers to the small natural imperfections that are in and all, but best diamonds. These imperfections are commonly referred inclusions (internal) and blemishes (external). The least imperfection of a stone, the higher the rating of clarity. The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has devised a set of guidelines for the classification of the clarity of stone and are as follows:
- FL – Flawless. The highest degree of clarity chart diamond, this stone is absolutely free of internal or external inclusions of any kind. This is the most rare and expensive all grades.
- IF – Internally flawless. Gem in this level contain no internal defects under 10x magnification. However, there may be some small irregularities in the surface finish, but these can be removed by further polishing the stone.
- VVS1, VVS2 – Very very slightly included. Minute inclusions that are very difficult to see at 10x magnification. If the error is seen from the top of the stone, is a VVS2. If the error is detected by seeing the bottom, is a VVS1.
- VS1, VS2 – Very slightly included. In a diamond VS1, only smaller inclusions can be seen from the top at 10x magnification. A stone will VS2 internal defects very small and small external defects.
- SI1, SI2 – Slightly included. Grades will SI1 small internal flaws when viewed at 10x magnification, but not are visible to the naked eye. Grades SI2 inclusions contain small, easily visible with the increase, but not yet visible to the naked eye.
- I1, I2, I3 – Included. In an I1 stone, inclusions are easily detected under 10x magnification, but difficult to see with the naked eye. These kinds of inclusions do not affect the brightness. Diamonds that are classified I2 with large and numerous inclusions barely visible to the naked eye when viewed through the crown. Because of this, the brightness decreases slightly. I3 contain defects and numerous large rocks that are easily visible to the naked eye and that will decrease the brightness.

Because they are formed deep in the earth under extreme heat and pressure, most diamonds contain will virtually "birthmarks." Rocks, no or few inclusions and blemishes are more highly valued, not only because are more pleasing to the eye, but also because they are extremely rare.

If inclusions are not visible to the naked eye, clarity is not really improve the appearance of a gemstone, but rather it is the rarity and price. Even more affordable, are stones commonly as "eye clean". These diamonds are SI1 and SI2 classifieds, which have no inclusions visible to the naked eye.
